The game “Attention to the teacher”
A quick and engaging game for developing dribbling skills, attention, and reaction to visual signals. It fits perfectly in the warm-up or as a technical segment in ball-handling lessons.
Game objectives
-
Developing dribbling skills with both hands.
-
Improving attention and reaction speed to visual signals.
-
Strengthening coordination and ball control.
-
Practicing dribbling variations (left/right, behind the back, between the legs).

Required materials
One basketball for each student.
Organization
Students position themselves in two parallel lines, with enough space between them.
All students hold the ball and dribble in place, always looking at the teacher.
Execution and signals (game rules)
At the teacher’s visual signals, all students perform simultaneously:
-
Right arm up → dribble with the right hand.
-
Left arm up → dribble with the left hand.
-
Both arms up → dribble forward 2–3 meters and return to the starting spot.
-
Both hands behind the back → dribbling variations of choice: left/right hand, behind the back, between the legs, etc.
Throughout the activity, students keep their eyes on the teacher and immediately switch execution according to the signal.
Variations and progression
-
Variable tempo: change the rhythm of the signals (fast/slow) to increase difficulty.
-
Timer: keep each signal for 10–15 seconds, then switch.
-
Light penalties: for mistakes, 3 squats or 5 rope jumps (optional, playful).
-
Advanced level: introduce “fake” signals (e.g., small arm movements) to increase concentration.
