Exercise of the week (13)

For this week, we have prepared a drill that can be used in the training process to improve football-specific physical conditioning.


🧩 Required equipment:

  • flat markers
  • footballs


✅ Exercise description:

 

Three playing areas will be created, with dimensions identical to those shown in the diagram above.

The ideal number of players for this drill is 18.

The squad will be divided into two teams.
In each of the three playing areas, three blue players will be positioned.

The remaining players will be positioned near the corner of the penalty area (red team in the diagram).

Inside the three playing areas, 3 vs 1 possession games will be played.


The first red player starts with a 3/4 intensity run toward the first 3 vs 1 area.
There, a 3 vs 1 possession game begins and continues until the red player manages to touch the ball.

As soon as the red player touches the ball, he immediately starts another 3/4 intensity run toward the second playing area, where a new 3 vs 1 game begins.

After recovering or touching the ball in the second 3 vs 1 area, the red player continues with another 3/4 intensity run toward the third playing area.

In the last playing area, the same 3 vs 1 game is played, and once the red player recovers or touches the ball, he returns walking to the back of the red team line.


🎯 Coach’s tasks in this exercise:

  • decide when the next player starts the drill;
  • determine the number of repetitions and the number of sets per team.
